Tanmiyat Global to build Dubailand’s tallest towers

Riyadh-based Tanmiyat Global has unveiled plans to build Dubailand’s tallest towers as part of its long-delayed Living Legends project on the outskirts of Dubai.

The Saudi investment company and property developer said that it planned to complete the 34-storey Skyline twin towers in 2018.

The 1 million square feet towers will comprise 750 residential and hotel apartments. An additional eight floors will form the base of the two towers, consisting of the Legends Mall and parking.

Tanmiyat had started its ambitious 15 million sq ft project, Living Legends, off Emirates Road in Dubailand in 2007.

The development was intended to comprise a total built-up area of 6 million sq ft, including 500 villas, 12 towers with 2,200 apartments, three office buildings, one mall, three schools, two mosques, and a hotel overlooking a golf course.

But the company shelved the projects after the global financial crisis hit.

In the spring of 2011, dozens of angry buyers showed up at Tanmiyat’s sales office in Dubailand wanting to know why the homes they had bought three years earlier were still on the drawing board.

“The Skyline Towers is set to become Dubailand’s most iconic new structure,” said Mohammed Bin Odah, chief executive of Tanmiyat Global. “This new venture demonstrates our commitment to maintaining a long-term presence in Dubai.”

He added that the towers would be connected to the Legends Mall, which will comprise 158 stores including Carrefour and was set for completion by the end of next year.

Separately, Tanmiyat also said The Exchange Tower in Dubai’s Business Bay will be ready for handover at the end of this month.

The 35-storey tower has 188 offices and retail space totalling 350,000 square feet.
