Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday visited the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City and inspected the work progress on District One project.
During his visit, Shaikh Mohammad was introduced to sketches of the project, which reflected their innovative engineering designs.
Shaikh Mohammad was also briefed on a detailed explanation of the components of the project by Saeed Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Meydan Group, the developer of the project.
Stretching over 50 million square feet, the project will be implemented over four main phases at a total cost of Dh25 billion. It will feature 1,500 villas and hundreds of underground parking lots where it is set to be completed by 2022.
The District One project was uniquely designed. It will include the world’s largest crystalline lagoon as well as other lagoons, artificial islands, and a man-made beach. The project aims to meet all the needs of its residents and will provide them with all modern amenities. It will feature a modern shopping mall that will include retail outlets, supermarkets, a cinema, coffee shops and restaurants as well as other facilities, along with golf courses, swimming pools, sport clubs and walking tracks, Al Tayer said.
During his visit, Shaikh Mohammad inspected two villa models and toured them where he was introduced to their divisions. Shaikh Mohammad expressed his satisfaction at the project and instructed to proceed with the four phases as scheduled. He also stressed the importance of providing Dubai residents with diverse lifestyles in order to meet various needs of different nationalities living in Dubai.
“The development and the progress in the UAE will never stop in spite of challenges being witnessed in our region as we will persistently work to establish the culture of facing challenges and instill the love of life inside our nation by hardworking, persistence and patience,” Shaikh Mohammad said.
Shaikh Mohammad was accompanied by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Chairman of Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, and Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director general of Dubai Protocol and Hospitality Department, as well as a number of engineers and senior officials.
