Emaar Group is set to partner with Rixos on a $420 million (TL1.2bn) Turkish theme park project, according to reports in local media.
Rixos Hotels is currently developing ‘The Land of Legends’ theme park in Belek, Antalya, the first stage of which is due to open in May.
According to reports in Turkish media, Emaar is set to take a 50-percent partnership in the project.
A spokesperson for Emaar has not confirmed the partnership deal, saying the developer would only make announcements once deals are signed.
“Emaar explores opportunities with various entities as part of normal course of business. Appropriate disclosures are made only subsequent to finalisation of any agreements,” the spokesperson said.
The theme park, which will be built over an area of 639,110-square-metres in two stages, is expected to attract 1 million tourists to Antalya's tourism sector when it’s fully completed in 2021.
The first stage of the project includes a five-star hotel, retail outlets and an aqua park, all of which are built. The hotel has 200 hotel rooms, each of which has a 5D cinema, a double screen LED TV and PlayStation. The aqua park The includes 55 waterslides, art workshops, an area for bicycles and skateboards, a walking-track and stages for different activities.
