Emaar Properties on Monday announced plans for a dedicated 7 sq km golf district, its newest mega-development in Dubai South.
Emaar South will become home to hundreds of thousands of people expected to work in the various integrated districts of Dubai South, greater Dubai area, and in close proximity to Abu Dhabi.
With the 145 sq km airport city quickly taking shape, the demand for residences in Dubai South is expected to spike, which will be met by Emaar South, the developer said in a statement.
In addition to people working at the Al Maktoum International Airport, Aviation District and Logistics District, Emaar South will also be a magnet for the 25 million visitors who will attend Expo 2020 Dubai, and for the millions of travellers who will fly by Al Maktoum International Airport, it added.
Featuring more than 15,000 residences, in a mix of tiered townhomes, townhouses, villas and apartments, Emaar South is envisaged as a smart neighbourhood. In addition to being home to thousands of people, it will create several hundred new jobs in the hospitality, retail and leisure sectors, Emaar said.
Emaar South will feature six districts anchored by an 18-hole championship golf course and clubhouse, a number of large community parks, dedicated retail precincts, 3 and 4 star hotels assuring contemporary guest experiences, and a number of outdoor pursuits.
Other amenities include a K-12 educational institution and a golf villa recreational centre.
